Weight Training in Middle School Athletics
The family of a sixth grader filed a lawsuit against his middle school football coach and school after he suffered from compression fractures in his spine during weight training on school grounds, where a coach provided general supervision for the student as he attempted to squat more than two times his body weight (Lemaster v. Grove City Christian School, 2017).
